KT FAQ
What is the Kaleidoscope Track?
The KT track is Dragon*Con-style programming for kids 9-13 years old and the young at heart based on Live Action TV Shows from Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and Disney Channel.
Why did Dragon Con make a Track for Pre-teens?
Dragon*Con has had multiple requests for a track for the enthusiastic in the 9-13 age range over several years.
Why does your track have the requirement for parents to accompany anyone under 18 (or the “Under 18” rule)?
For the safety of the children and everyone involved, it is best that anyone under 18 is accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Why can’t I drop my child off at your track if I feel he/she is responsible enough?
The KT Track Staff are not certified child care professionals. We can not legally be responsible for any one under 18 years of age. We can not guarantee the behavior of everyone in the room. Our policy has to be for all children regardless of maturity level or age.
Why do other tracks not follow the “Under 18” rule?
Other tracks are not targeted at kids. They may have one or two panels targeted at children and then switch to programming with more mature content.
Why do you only cover a few cartoons/animated series?
There are other tracks that cover animated shows as their main programming. We were the assigned shows that Dragon*Con felt would be a good draw for the 9-13 year old crowd.
Why don’t you have programming for:
1. Star Wars/Colon Wars – That will be included by the Star Wars track. Their programming is great!
2. The Simpsons/The Cleveland Show – these shows are not targeted at our age range
3. Crafts – we opted to not have craft panels this year, maybe next year
4. Animated Shows on Disney XD – Those will be included on the Animation Track
5. Japanese Animation – Not necessarily age appropriate. Also, any anime shows will be included on the Anime Track
6. Tween Movies – We are focused on Live Action TV shows. There will be some discussions over the TV movies when needed.
7. Imagination Movers/Blue’s Clues/Agent Orso - Target audience for these shows is too young for our age range.
8. All live action shows: We picked the shows our focus group of kids advised were the most popular. We will have plenty of years to get around to everything cool!
Why do you have more panels for Nick than Cartoon Network or Disney?
Nickelodeon has more live action shows than Disney or Cartoon Network. We welcome any suggestions for Live Action Shows!
What will happen if a child is left at the track w/o a parent or guardian?
They will be taken to Dragon*Con Security who will locate their parents to pick them up.
Why can’t adults participate in KT Idol?
We wanted the talent contest to be just for our target age range.
Why does your programming end at 8 PM?
We felt that Dragon*Con after 8 pm might be too mature for our target age range. This allows the younger enthusiasts to make it back to their rooms or somewhere else to avoid the more mature activities that occur at night.
